Brave Souls survived the horrendous Middle Passage
Only to be held in ruthless captivity
In this strange new land
Barely eeking out a meager survival
Stripped of dignity and culture
In the grips of violent, barbaric slavery

Our gathering for Juneteenth is a testimony to the Hopes and Dreams Of Our Ancestors
Who prayed our families would stay together
For Generations
Our Ancestors prayed for generations not yet born as they suffered and overcame the barbaric slavery and the murderous jim crow south
They dreamed about us living free! They saw us! They imagined us!
They prayed for us! They paved a way for us!
Never mind our bloodlines can be traced to the slave masters sins
Never mind our history has been stolen and hidden away
We Strive! We Thrive! We Survive!
We are Living Proof
